FAQs
What is WIN?

The World Initiative Network (WIN) in partnership with BBFI Missions, is here to help you step into God's calling—wherever He may lead. We believe your skills, training, and life experience are powerful tools for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world. With a global network of over 23,000 churches and more than 500 missionaries already serving in 80+ countries, we’re ready to walk with you on this journey. Whether it’s medical missions, teaching overseas, church planting, or something uniquely suited to your background, we want to help you find your place in God’s mission.

What’s the difference between WIN missionary path and BBFI Career path?

BBFI Career missionaries are Bible college or seminary graduates whose primary ministry focus on the field is church planting. WIN Missionaries often have different educational backgrounds and ministry experiences and desire to use these experiences and skills to serve in cross-cultural missions.

Does WIN partner with the local church?

The WIN program is a partner of the Baptist Bible Fellowship International. We are a network of pastors, churches and missionaries who align under our Articles of Faith and partner together in the work of the Great Commission. We believe that the local church is the Biblical sending agency for a missionary pursuing God’s call on their lives. As such, the sending church and sending pastor work in partnership with the World Initiative Network to serve and support their WIN Missionaries.

What is the relationship between the World Initiative Network and my sending church?
We believe that the local church is the Biblical sending agency for a missionary pursuing God’s call on their lives. As such, the sending church and sending pastor work in partnership with the World Initiative Network to serve and support their WIN Missionaries.

How does WIN care for its missionaries?
WIN is committed to supporting our missionaries by offering encouragement, guidance, and practical help for the wide range of situations they encounter. We provide regular assistance and services such as pre-field training, foreign banking support, security preparation, deputation coaching, cultural adaptation, and more. Our Crisis Action Team is also ready to respond in emergency situations involving our missionaries. Check the What We Do page for more details.
What training will I receive?

WIN training is designed to prepare you for all aspects of missionary life. Training will cover topics such as preparing for deputation, financial reporting, assimilating to the field, expectations of pastors and supporters, international banking, caring for your family, security training and more.  WIN training is a requirement and is offered in the spring, fall, and alongside BBFI missionaries during Advanced Missionary Training in July. You must attend one of the training events.

Who would define my role on the mission field?

Conversations between you and your sending church would be key to defining your ministry role. The Mission Office is here to offer counsel from our experience, but we view your ministry role as a collaborative effort between you, your sending church, and any missionary partners engaged in the work. This offers WIN Missionaries the flexibility they need to follow God’s call on their lives.

What are the requirements for a WIN Missionary?

Must be a born-again believer and have publicly identified with Jesus through Believer’s Baptism.

Must be a member of a Baptist church or church of like faith.

Must have a sending church of like faith located in the United States.

Must give a clear explanation of God’s leading in their lives.

Must be at least 22 years of age.

Must be a US citizen or married to a US citizen.

What are the steps to become a WIN Missionary?

The application and acceptance process for WIN missionaries consists of three phases. Prospective missionaries should get in touch with the WIN office by completing the online Interest Form. WIN Office staff will conduct an interview before the process moves forward. The application consists of personal information, personal and professional references, doctrinal statements, and a background check. We will also communicate with your sending church and pastor to confirm their support and backing.

In phase two, pastors from our Mission Committee will review your application packet. As they review your information they may contact you, your sending pastor and your references with any questions they have for further information.

The final phase of the process is WIN training, held at the Mission Office each spring and fall, and with our BBFI missionaries during Advanced Mission Training in July. Training covers financial reporting, theology of risk, deputation, church accountability, WIN policies, and security. It also includes individual meetings with counselors and directors.

Once the three phases are complete, there will be a WIN Acceptance Ceremony at the end of training, and the processing of support will commence the following month. WIN missionaries also have the option to be recognized at a BBFI National meeting.
